My Why

So I am asked why a lot.  I think that it is a question we are all asked a lot.  It is also one that we ask a lot.
Why now?
Why me?
Why us?
Why did that happen?
Why?
It is a simple question, but the answers are usually complex.  As parents we are all guilty of "because I said so, that is why." Well, at least I know I am and it is one response I try to steer away from.  I try to always explain the why.  Whether it is to my child, my husband, my mom, a friend, or anyone.  I try to give them a why, if it is important enough to ask, I feel it is important enough to answer.
My clients, I will ask why to.  Why are you moving?  I cannot wait to hear their answers, jobs, schools, neighborhood, just ready for a change, the list is endless.
So I am doing some self examination right now and going to explain my why.  I have a Master's in Business.  I could probably go to work and make a decent living, but the cost of that is too high.  I am a wife and a mom, and that is what I was born to be.  I know that God put me here for them.  I also know that it is time to return to the work force.  We have made it work with Brandon's income and for that I am so thankful.  But getting ahead and getting to really enjoy it has not been the case. Time is slipping away from us, and I want to be able to make memories that will cross into the stories that my grandchildren hear from my children.
God and family that is my why!  I want to be the best mom.  I want to be the best Catholic.  I want to be the best wife.  I want to be the best friend.  I want to the best cousin, aunt, sister, etc.  I want people to hear my name and associate it with happiness, with success, with a smile.  I am sure that it sounds cheesy, but it is my why.
I do not like to tell my children no, I know that they need to hear it and that is fine.  But telling them no because we do not have the money does not have to be the case.  I want to be able to buy them the new clothes, take them on the vacations, get the extra gift at Christmas or just because they are spectacular.
My why, is because I can.  My three men....Brandon, Danny and John Michael are my why!  So when you need a realtor or your friend needs a realtor.  Send them to me.  Send them to me because my why will drive me to sell their home, or to find them a home, or whatever they need.  I will find their why and make their dreams come true!
I will be the best and I will do it for my boys, and for all of you!

A Christmas Miracle - Bringing Paighton Home

I'll be home for Christmas.  It is a Christmas Carol that has always made me think of our service men and women who are protecting us and sacrificing their time at home for the country that they love.  It also makes me think about the everyday heroes who work their Christmases, the police, fire fighters, nurses and doctors.  This year while I still think about all of them I also think about a very special young woman. Growing up in Clay, AL I was able to get to know most of the people I grew up with pretty well.  It was still a small town.  I remember when the Houston family moved just down the street.  This sweet family  became neighbors, then friends and then family.  The natural progression of a relationship, the family that we choose.  I remember when they moved to Trussville and we have all remained close. This family is one that would do anything for anyone.  If they knew you needed a hand they would lend it and not think twice...

12 Years Since

12 Years can be measured... 4,384 Days 105,216 Hours 6,312,960 Minutes I can go on. That is how long it has been since I hugged the man who taught me how to be ME!  He taught me how to love, how to fight, how to apologize.  He taught me how to count, how to read and how to write.  In 12 years a lot can happen.  We have moved.  We have had birthdays, anniversaries, tragedies and triumphs.  Careers have changed.  Graduations have happened.  Others have passed away and new members have been born.  My family literally grew by the multiples (and I would do anything to be able to share the story with him).  My boys have grown up with simply stories of a man who would have been an amazing Granddaddy.  They have only stories and a few pictures of a man who loved them more than he loved me (and let me tell you THAT is something I did not think was possible).  Grief comes in waves and this I know and most days I really a...
